The thing is, I was more or less reconciled to its cancellation; the fact that rumours of its demise didn’t really bother me only cemented my feeling that the show simply isn’t exciting me. On that basis it’s hard to feel enthusiastic that we’re getting more.
There are elements of the show that I do find engaging, and if it can understand and capitalise on those it may well find a way to rise above its limitations. But I’m not counting on it.
As seen to date it’s a one trick pony, persistently pushing the same buttons over and over, and seemingly unaware that only a couple of those buttons actually do anything. Most of all it needs to realise that it’s not The West Wing, and that what worked for that show does not necessarily work here.
